[SOLVED] Terminal Services error
All of a sudden, people trying to log onto the TS are getting the following message:
To log on to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User Access permissions on this computer. By default, members of the Remote desktop users group have these permissions. If you are not a member of the remote desktop users group or another group that has these permissions, or if the remote users group does not have these permissions, you must be granted these permissions manually. I am researching this right now as well but any advice as to a fix would greatly help. thanks, Bryan |

Re: Terminal Services error
I fugured this out, somehow the computer account got corrupted in AD and I removed it from AD. Then I disjoined it from the domain and rejoined it. Once I did that I added the cal licenses and then had to reboot the server and that resolved the issue. I have noticed as well as heard from others that MS will allow connections to the server without the cal licenses for 120 days. However, this isn't always the case, it will allow license free connections past that 120 day mark. We have servers here as well as at my last company that have gone yrs without cal licensing on them with no problems. I think that this is a case of my server name getting hosed in AD which caused all the connection problems. This is only my opinion based on what I have seen though.
P.S. I was not able to find any documentation on the resolution to this problem as far as a TS perspective. I did see good documentation on this error for a small business only needing to use Remote Desktop for 3 or so users which required the uninstallation of TS. thanks, Bryan |
