help please
hi. well my sister just got a computer from her friend and her computer os is windows 3.5 i think. my question is, she wants to upgrade it to windows 2000 and i was wondering how to do that exactly. we have the disc already but i was wondering if there is a certain way to do it on that operating system. thanks for any help

Before you can upgrade this computer you will need to see if it meets the system requirements for Windows 2000. I'm guessing that any PC running Windows 3.1 is probably not well enough equipped (in its original configuration) for a Windows 2000 installation.
Though I am not 100% sure I believe a fresh install of Windows 2000 is the way to go. I'm not sure there's an upgrade path from 3.1. Once you boot to the Windows 2000 CD all the steps for installing it will be laid out for you. Just be aware of the fact that everything that already exists on the computer will be lost when you install Windows 2000. MJ |
