question about dhcp

plz help,
why do we interested in having all ip addressing for the workstations to be deployed via dhcp ?
any ideas plz

I have 800 PCs+ on my domain. I can't imagine manually assigning an IP to each PC (this doesn't include printers, security systems, etc).

as has been said earlier .. allocating IP addresses for PC's by DHCP is a lot easier and requires no-one to wander around to configure addresses. It also possibly eradicates the possibility of repeating addresses which would or could stop the network from working properly. The DHCP server will ensure that it doesn't give out the same address to different PC's at the same time. It will also re-use the same IP for a new PC after the previous PC has logged off of the network .. and re-issue another IP should the logged off PC log back on again.
