2003 DNS help
Here's the low down. Ii'm using DNS services on our Windows 2003 R2 server.
I need to create a record that will allow our internal users to open up any browser and enter "techsupport" which forwards them to an external IP. The external IP does not have a FQDN. It's just an IP. What kind of record do I need? I tried a Cname and just plugging in the IP of the external server but that didn't work. Tia, Dave |

Re: 2003 DNS help
Did you try an (A) Record? Try entering
TECHSUPPORT IP ADDRESS That might get you what you re looking for. I don't have access to my Servers at the moment so i am unable to test but give that a try and let me know. |

Re: 2003 DNS help
I tried that as well. It will not resolve. I can resolve straight to the external IP if I just enter the IP but if I want to give it a more friendly name, something our users will remember like "techsupport" it times out.
