Server 2003 R2 Print Management Console not sending Email notifications
If anyone as an idea of what I can do to solve this problem would be great. I am a technical admin. for a private college in the IT dept and I am having a problem with Server 2003 R2, primarily the email notifications for the print management console, the filters to be exact. Here is the problem. After setting up filters for such items as out of paper, out of ink, paper jam and so forth i enter the appropriate info in order to send a test email. I enter in the recepient, sender address and and SMTP address of our relay email agent. It does not work what so ever. In order to test wether it was getting out of the box and hitting the network i found an IP address of one of gmails SMTP email servers and used it as a relay and an outside email address of my gmail account. This however works and sends emails fine. So i know that the function of SMTP works, just not in our network. The following have been checked and are not the issue
-spam filters is not catching these emails so that is not the problem -mcafee mass mailing worms is off as well -the relay smtp server works for other setups of smtp in our dept. -firewall is not catching anything because the outside test worked. -we can ping and trace the route of the relay server and that is fine. I am running out of ideas if anyone can offer some suggestions. I have read other articles on people having the same problem but no solutions. Thanks, Eric |
