remote access
hi all
currently we have a MYOB (point of sales) system, and the database is shared by a samba type share. we now need to be able to have external access for the manager, so i was wondering what is the best way to setup external access. the two main options i thought up was either a terminal server type system with remote desktop connections, or to setup some sort of FTP so that they can work on their local machine What do you think would be best?? Thanks Murray |

Re: remote access
What operating systems are your systems running with? In one point you mention Samba, so I assume somewhere on your network is a Linux box? Having an idea how everything is set up will help immensely in giving targeted recommendations.

Re: remote access
I would run terminal services since it would be much faster and more secure than running it from a program installed offsite. I had a client that used a robust accounting package that could be accessed remotely and we had issues with it moving the data across the internet, whereas the terminal server option was like being there since the work was being done local to the database.
