DNS Caching issue
My company recently setup a VPN tunnel between us and a client. I setup forward zones on our DNS server(Server 2003 Standard) for the IP's they specified. Prior to the VPN tunnel being setup through our firewall, we used a software tunnel. With the software tunnel we were hitting different IP's than we're hitting through the Firewall/Hardware VPN. Occasionally I will have a pc that tries to hit the old IP address even though the DNS entries are there on the server and the other pc's attempting to connect on the office go through just fine.
A simple ipconfig /renew typically fixes the issue. All pc's confirm that the DNS servers listed are correct. Is there a place where a cache that I am unaware of could be stashing these 'older' invalid IP's? Thanks in advance, and I hope this wasn't to confusing to explain. ~DnM |
