Server 2003 XP profile problem
Hi, I came across a very odd problem at a site i visited yesterday. The complaint was a network issue but turns out that the user was able to log on just fine but network drives would map but not allow access, same with printers and email (via Outlook/Exchange) would also not allow access. Got all working on users own machine with PW reset but as soon as i go to another machine issue remains, then went back to his own machine and problem was back.
Created a brand new profile in AD, copied desktop, favourites, home drive contents to new profile. Set up email and all looked great. Logged on two other machines and looked good. Went back to user own machine and on log on something tried to install itself, gave account local admin rights to see what it was but just installed without saying then within 10 minutes or so this profile also began to corrupt in the same way. Created a third profile but did not allow this thing to run this time and left the site with all working but not confident that it will stay this way. So my question is has anyone seen anything like this before? I suspect there may be a virus on his machine that is playing with the profiles. Either that or something very odd is going on the server. He is the only user that this is affecting. Thanks in advance for any edvise you may have. |
