Help me configure SBS 03 for external email!
Background: Myself and a buddy own our own business. I would say we are moderate to advanced on the technical side of things. We are not looking for the easiest way out, mainly trying to apply knowledge that we gain while learning to do this. We are trying to do 3 things with our server:
1) allow us to remote in to server from anywhere (mainly to add emails) 2) allow anyone outside our network to use our server as an email server. 3) host our own email from our .com website Our Setup consists of a router, a couple computers we want to hook up to the domain, and our server (currently only using one NIC, not sure if this is the best way) So far we have set up port forwarding, ran the firewall- internet- email wizard(unsuccessfully obv), set up a .local domain and a .com email domain, and tried to send some emails. I'm sure we are missing 1000 steps but that is why we are here :) Problems: External email is going no where. (stays in the queue) (We are using DNS not forwarding) Outlook doesn't work for POP3 and exhange server isn't an option(how did we screw this one up?? ).Why do we suck so hard? |

Re: Help me configure SBS 03 for external email!
hi guys
make sure that you have your outgoing server setup, somwhere in the email settings there will be an outgoing email server setup, and you will need ot enter details for your outgoing SMTP server. with your second problem, are you using outlook or outlook express?? also what version. if you would like i have an ebook that will tell you about everything about SBS server 2003, and i know a fair bit about it as i have setup a couple of them. Thanks Murray |
