windows 2000 and widows xp
ok every time i start up my computer its a old dell desktop it asks if i want to use windows 2000 or windows xp. when i put windows 2000 it ask me to install disk is there anyway i could just have windows xp on it

Hi if 2k is not on the machine you will need to edit the "boot ini" file. It is a hidden file so you will need to go to control panel folder options "view" and put a check in "show hidden files and folders" also "Hide protected system files" (not exact on last one will be similiar) then search for "boot.ini" right click select edit and note what it says if you are unsure what to delete copy and paste it into here and we will tell you. You might also like to use msconfig go to start run and type "msconfig" select the "boot tab" you will see the contents of your boot ini file there you can click on "check all boot paths" see if that alerts you to a problem.
