Wink adding computer to server

We think our admin of our computers who is one of our sales people who gets 100.00 extra a week to maintain our computers took a very important computer off the server before leaving to have surgery. Showing us how much we need him. Can I put the computer back on the server without his help? The server uses WinNT 4.0

Re: adding computer to server

If your wanting to add the computer back in Active Directory, then you'll need Domain admin privilages to do that. the computer will automatically be added to the domain once the computer is plugged back in anywayz.

Re: adding computer to server

Please explain. The computer in question is showing that it is "plugged in" to the ethernet. When I go to the start menu and select nework connections I get the window showing:

Lan or High Speed Internet
Local Area Connection
Enabled
Via Compatable Fast Ethernet

but when I go to the Network Places Icon on the Desktop and select another comp on the network I get the message:

"Bookeeping/C BOOKEEPING is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the admisistrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network path was not found.

The checked the connections to the router and changed the wires to make sure that was not the problem. My husband and I then checked the server and found the computer in question was totally gone from the server. I really need to know how to get it back on the server so that the owner can use the computer and so that we can not be held hostage. I am also going to post this question on the network question forum to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks for your help

Re: adding computer to server

First I need to know if your network is a domain or a workgroup. Go to a computer that IS working and click start > run. now type cmd and press enter. Now in the black box, type ipconfig /all.

Copy and paste the output here so I can have a wee nosey! :)
