NT4 to 2003 R2 Migration
Hi
I know this is old things but I have ran into a site that needs to be migrated from windows NT4 running sp6 to Windows Server 2003 R2. Scenario: --------- 2 NT4 servers ( 1 PDC and 1 BDC) The pdc also runs wins and dhcp The bdc runs exchange 5.5 Neither of these can be upgraded to 2003 (very very old pc's) The new server has been loaded with 2003 R2 sp1. Wins, and Ad has been setup. Setting up the trusts. From 2003 it all looks fine. But from NT4 I cannot setup the trust. It reports that it cannot find a domain controller for the 2003 domain. Please help is needed!!!!! |

Re: NT4 to 2003 R2 Migration
Ok I managed to solve my own problem :)
If some1 was interested here is the solution: I edited the lmhosts.sam file on both the new server (2003) and NT4 to this 192.168.1.245 2k3server #PRE #DOM:2003domain #2003 DOMAIN 192.168.1.245 2k3server #PRE #2003 DC 192.168.1.240 ntserver #PRE #DOM:NTDOM #NT DOMAIN 192.168.1.240 ntserver #PRE #NT DC and enable netbios over tcp/ip Create a two way trust on the 2003 server then fo to the NT4 server and add the trusting server (2003) then after that add the trusted (2003) Using the same password for the trusts as specified on the 2003 server. Smooth sailing from then on Hope it helps some1 out there |
