Colossal Issue - trojan removal killed system
Hello, need help really, REALLY badly.
I used a free program (http://www.free-av.com/) to remove a Trojan that my computer had (I was alerted of this after opening World of Warcraft and it telling me that I should not proceed due to a trojan horse infection). The scan worked, I got rid of the trojan, and went to reboot. When I turned the computer back on, the bottom bar popped up as did the icons, but I am unable to open anything, and nothing shows up in the system tray, when normally I have 7 icons there. What did I do to my computer =(? Thanks in advanced for any help. |

Re: Colossal Issue - trojan removal killed system
The free version of Avira Antivir is anything but fully comprehensive. First thing you should do is run another scan. Take a look at our Online Scanner thread and run a scan. If it picks up something, I recommend you follow our HijackThis 5 Step Process and post a HijackThis log in our HijackThis Log Help board, where a member of our security team will assist you further in cleaning out your system. Let's make sure everything is cleared out.
EDIT: Good grief, World of Warcraft's Watcher program actually caught something! I'm impressed. One thing you might try running is the System File Checker. However only do this after the above has been cleared/dealt with. Last edited by Cellus; 04-30-2008 at 12:51 AM. |
