[SOLVED] Setting up shares on Win 2003

Hi all,

A would appreciate your advice, help and support (if this is not asking too much) in order to share a directory between 2 W2K3 servers.

Context: setup of backup infrastructure between 3 servers. The machines are stand alone (ie: not in a domain)
The backup software runs on a machine and copies files across the network from the clients.
The backup server and one of the clients (machine called wensim) run W2K3 standard, with SP2 and the latest patches.
(the other client runs Fedora 6, and sharing files between Fedora and W2K3 works like a charm !!)

Problem:I cannot share a directory on the wensim
Here is the procedure I followed on wensim
- create a specific user called "backup" and add it to the "local admin" group
- select the directory I want to share, right click and "share this directory"
- share name = "wensim$" (I want this share to be hidden)
- max users = 4
- security : add user "backup/full access" to the existing "everyone/read"
- ok, ok, ok

If I check with "net share" --> I get my hidden share listed as "wensim$", which is ok, but I cannot access the share from any machine at all, not even from wensim

Net use \\aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd\wensim$ /user:backup password
System error 67 has occurred.

The network name cannot be found.

I am pretty sure I am missing a stupid detail, but which one ???

Thanks !

Stupid detail indeed : I "just" forgot to activate "file & printer sharing" in the network config.
