[SOLVED] DHCP problem on Server 2003
I having some issues with clients receiving incorrect ip addresses. I have found that the clients connecting through ethernet cable are using our firewall as a default gateway while those with wireless adapters are using the Windows server as the default gateway(This is correct). Clients that are connecting through the firewall have default one day leases(should be 8 days) and have an ip address on a differest subnet. I have also found that some clients in this group do not report to the DHCP server while others do. In addition leases expiration dates for some clients are listed different in the DHCP server then what is shown in ipconfig /all. These computers can all be pinged and I have already tried ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew. I only have about 55 clients and we have about 155 addresses set aside for lease.

Re: DHCP problem on Server 2003
It sounds like your firewall's DHCP function is turned on. Make sure you only have 1 Server or Firewall functioning as a DHCP server.
What brand is your firewall? How many servers do you have? |

Re: DHCP problem on Server 2003
Thats exactly what it was. Our firewall is a Sonic Wall and it had the DHCP enabled with a larger address range. This explains all the obscure addresses. I appreciate the message as it confirms what I found.
