SQL Server
I'm a newbie, so please bear with me. My boss wants me to set up an SQL server, but I've never done anything with SQL before. How easy is it to learn? What's the method, learn by doing or getting a book? Also, the company has copies of SQL Server 2000 & 2005. While I would naturally want to install 2005, is there an advantage to going with 2000 instead? What's the difference? Thanks!

Re: SQL Server
I would really suggest you start with a quick reference guide to which ever distro you choose. A long term solution would to be very proficient in SQL Server by reading the Exam books that prepare you to be a DBA (Database Administrator).
See the links below for books that will help you with this. MCDBA Quick reference guides for SQL 2000 http://www.google.com/products?q=qui...=1&sa=N&tab=wf I hope this helps in what you are looking for. |
