Cannot Save Excel files to a Server's folders.
I have encounter a case where i cant save a new spreadsheet into a server folder. I'm currently using Windows 2000, Office 2000 and Server OS is Server2003. There are about 20 users who also are facing the same problem. However they can save locally to their own desktop.
Everytime they save to server folder, an error message appear stating to check if the folder is read-only, check that our save name is not more than 200 charaters, no <,>,# to be use to save name. From the desktop the folders in the server is not set on read-only, but when i check on the server, the folders ARE Read-only. I tried to change it but once i apply, the settings revert back. Is there any solution or patch that i should apply? |

Are you trying to make the permission changes as an Administrator of the domain?
Please post a screen shot of the properties of the folder in question. HOW TO POST A SCREEN SHOT |

Re: Cannot Save Excel files to a Server's folders.
Yes, i want to change the permission for all the users to enable them to directly save their excel onto the server's folder. Currently they can only save locally on their local drive and use windows explorer to copy/paste to the server. Is there alternative way i can change that permission? I've attached a jpeg of the error when i'm try to save the spreadsheet direct to the server, using Office 2003.
