MAC Address Question

My school requires all students to use the Cisco Clean Access Agent in order to login to their network. After changing from my 32 bit XP Pro to 64 bit, I was unable to get it working, and after calling ITS I got them to add me to a list of exemptions. They took down my MAC address, and after being added to their list, I'm now able to access the internet without having to use Cisco's software. My question pertains to the future in that I don't want to do anything that might trigger a change in that address (if that's even possible, I don't really know anything about networking). So, my question is, if I were to reformat in the future, would my MAC address change, or stay the same? If so, would there be any way to change it back to what it is now, so that I remain able to access the Internet from school? And is there anything else I should know that might trigger the address being changed?

Thanks in advance.

Re: MAC Address Question

The MAC Address is burnt in the ROM of your network interface card (NIC) so it will never change.

Don't worry then :)

Re: MAC Address Question

The only way to change your MAC address is either to change your network card or do something called as MAC spoofing, which is not recommended
