Administration rights problem
Hi,
I am new to networking, I have a new user which I have added to the domain by copying my user account. I have admin rights so I can install programs on any pc I log onto, I assumed if I copied my account for this user they would have the same rights as me but alas no, but they cannot install any new programs or access all network drives that I can. How do I set up this user so he can install his software? He is the new accountant and needs to have admin rights for the programs he uses. If I log on as myself on his PC I can install software, so I'm guessing it is not the pc! I have read somewhere about local admin rights but haven't tried that yet as I though I might be missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, spikeydean. |

Re: Administration rights problem
If he is just now being made an administrator. You are going to have to change the members group he is a member of on the local PC. You can change this from under CONTROL PANEL>USERS.

Re: Administration rights problem
Hi,
Can you go into more detail if possible please? I have been into 'My Computer'. 'Manage', 'Local Users and Groups', 'Groups' but it already show administrator in there. Am I missing something? Thanks. |

Re: Administration rights problem
Is this setup part of a domain?
Go to CONTROL PANEL>USER ACCOUNTS Make sure he is listed in there as an Admin or Power User. |

Re: Administration rights problem
Excellent, that worked. I didn't know you had to give the user admin access to a machine, I thought it was all done through the network. Appreciate you help greatly.
Thanks, spikeydean. |
