slow access to windows 2003 server
All computers (XP clients) connecting to 2003 server via file share, client server apps, printers, basically any shared/published server resource experience a 5-10 sec delay when first accessed.
Server: Windows 2003 DC w/ all recommended updates, symantec antivirus 3.1, running file and print, DNS server also configured. (BASIC SETUP) Server runs at 5-15% CPU and is not accessed by more than 40 clients with approx 6-10 concurrent users at anytime. Network: 1 Gateway Router, 2 basic 48 port switches all running 1GB connections including internal network cards. Used primarily for file and print with one clent server appication installed. Any help ideas would be much appreciated.... Jeff |

Re: slow access to windows 2003 server
Try pinging the server first by IP address and the by name. post back results. screen shot would be better.
