Move DC to a new Box
hi guys
Yesterday i posted an Ad asking for help in moving AD out of DC. Ok, i wasnt too clear about it. What i want to do is i have a current DC that has 180Gig storage space with DNS/AD/DHCP setup. It also has telephone software, Pastel and Backup software. the server is running out of space but my manager doesnt want to upgrade that server, he rather wants me to move the entire DC and all software to another box that has 400Gig storage space. Please can someone provide me with a step by step procedure on how to do this. Please dont miss out steps as i am new to this and its also a new job and i dont want to mess it up. I also think its best to backup the current DC incase the move doesnt go well. please help!!!

Re: Move DC to a new Box
Hi,
You cant move DC's. You will need to promote the new machine to a DC, then demote the old one. have a read around on the net about DCpromo. And also speak with your boss, if your not sure how to do something like this, then you need to recive some training.
