Need a startup script for a Windows 2003 domain
Good day All,
I need a big help as I am planning a wide deployment of the following on the company's structure and want to minimise having to travel to all locations. As an admin I believe I should be able to deply using a startup script. These are the things I need to achieve; 1. Install a software from a certain ip address share based on the network address of the computer, i.e. there are different subnets, the script checks the network address of a computer then installs the software from a given file server on that subnet. Example if my ip address is 10.2.10.10 then it installs from a share on 10.2.10.250 and if my ip address is 10.5.4.23 then it installs from 10.5.4.250. The idea is that the file server hosting the installation files are located in all branches on a server with ip address of x.x.x.250, where x.x.x is the subnet address of the branch. 2. Uninstall a software 3. Get the computer names for a subnet with a known ip range, i.e. get the computer names for all the computers in a subnet from 10.1.1.0 - 10.1.0.254 4. Remove a computer from one domain and join to another domain of a different name 5. Add a proxy server to the internet explorer proxy address 6. Configure an outlook express account 7. Alter the ip address, DNS settings, time and time zone on a computer 8. Use the moveuser.exe file in windows 2003 server resource kit to move the user's profile in the old domain to the new domain so he still has all his settings. If the scripts can be kixtart, that would be lovely but otherwise vbscript or a batch file that would work. The order doesn't necessarily have to be in the order above. I don't know if it's possible but the idea is to have the startup script copy the batch file to the local machine and then run. This is due to the domain change on number 4, so as to still complete the batch file process. Would be very grateful if anyone has anything that works. Thank you. Adeyinka Olatunji |
