Vanishing attachment problem - Need Help Please
Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question- but I'm a little desperate. Here's the set up to my problem:
Sent an email with a MS Word document attached to my wife's PC running Windows NT. She opened the document directly from the attachment and worked on it (saving it without re-naming it or moving it.) Later, once she was done writing and editing, she closed the document and prepared to attach it to an outgoing email on her web-based AOL mail program. But she could not find the file. I had her look in numerous different folders and do searches across the entire drive (including in files and folders that are invisible) and still she could not find it. Does anyone have an idea of how to recover this document? It's not listed in recently opened documents nor in the recently used documents in the Words program. We're at wit's end and this is a vital work document so if we can't recover it, something really smelly and brown will be hitting the fan. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Vanishing attachment problem - Need Help Please
Which mail client did she receive the email on? Outlook, aol, etc.?
If she opened it directly from the email, worked on it and saved it (with out changing the name) it is most likely in the temporary mail folder. If using outlook it would be somewhere like this c:\Documents and settings\USER*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK67 * Insert whatever the user name is for the windows account she was working on. |
