Norton Ghost fails to restore

Hi

I am having a problem with Norton Ghost 8.3 on a Windows 2003 server (64 bit)

The backup reports everything ok., but when I try to restore it freeze when it is half done, leaving a useless server.
After restoring an older image redoing all modifications, it worked fine again.

Now, a few months later the restore is failling once again....
One thing I learned the last time, is that if the restore fails, the Ghost Explorer will also crash trying to open the image, so after that I have checked all images (the server is therefore still running)

I have tried to move some files around, delete a number of files and defragment the disk, but nothing helps, everytime Ghost reports everything ok. after the backup, but the image is still corrupted

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problems?
It seems to me, that it must be something in the operating system that is causing this...
