Terminal Server Disconnects

I am having a problem connecting remotely to a win 2k server using terminal services. The problem is that it connects fine and I am able to work normally with this connection to the server unless, I am connected remotely and I minimize the connection for more than one minute. When I reopen the window it is frozen with a black screen.

I have searched everywhere for a solution, any help would be appreciated.

Users can connect locally using the same process and do not experience the black screen when minimized.

All updates are installed and current.

I have the same problem when connectiong remote regardless of what machine I use or connect from. I have tested and reproduced the problem on several machines they all have the same issue.

I am sure it is not related to licensing issues, or problems with the machines I am connecting with.

Please help if you can I am losing hair by the minute over this.

Thanks much.

Re: Terminal Server Disconnects

***UPDATE***

I have found the following resource site http://terminal.servebeer.com/ and tried the recommended fixes, however it did not correct the problem. Is there any one out there that can help? I am truly stumped and dont know what info to post for further help.

Thanks again in advance.

Re: Terminal Server Disconnects

Hello. When I ran into this problem, I discovered that my poor connection was causing the disconnect. Since my connection to the internet so poor, whenever there would be little too much traffic, the terminal sessoin would break. See if that is the problem.

I would also check what kind of time you have set for sessions to disconnect if it is inactive.

Re: Terminal Server Disconnects

Thank you for the response.
I have verified that the internet connection is consistent and stable. I have tried setting the idle disconnect to anything from several minutes to 2 days and it seems t have no effect at all. Presently it is set to disabled. Is there any other ideas or suggestions you might have?

Re: Terminal Server Disconnects

Check the terminal services forum for Microsoft. Search for Microsoft newsgroups for terminal services. There where I always go for issues. Good Luck.
