Re: Mirroring of two drive
What you are looking for is a RAID 1 setup.
There are two different flavours of RAID available, hardware and software. While Windows supports software RAID, its reliability is questionable - hardware RAID is highly recommended. You will need a hardware RAID controller. Most servers (more recently even desktops) come with either an on-board hardware RAID controller on the motherboard or one via a PCI expansion card. Configuring a RAID array is as simple as accessing the RAID controller's user interface on computer start-up (you will be prompted to press a certain key to access RAID setup during POST). The particular RAID config you are looking for is known as RAID 1 (also known as a mirrored set). RAID 1 is fairly "mickey mouse" to set up, you shouldn't have any problems so long as everything is hooked up properly. |
