Hello,
Call this a idiot question but I just want to confirm and know some little info. What someone requested is to have an intranet, which a good web developer can do, now does the Intranet need to and can work with IIS? how does that work? I am use to just working with Html/xhtml, and putting it in the designated folder (inetpub). also what is the latest IIS? Thank you PS sorry if I am in the wrong forum |

Great thanks for the info about IIS 6.0 but does it work with someone programming in ASP.net? does ASP.net programming files need to be dropped inside the particular folder like you would drop the .htm or .html file into the inetpub? because as I said the company requests a intranet and I guess the web developer will need a stand alone server for the intranet and I was wondering if IIS 6.0 can do the trick?
Thanks again |

Re: ASP.net and IIS
Correct me if I'm wrong but...IIS isn't installed by default supporting ASP.NET. You need to install the .NET framework on the server and then install ASP.NET in the Add/Remove Programs --> Add/Remove Windows components control panel applet along with IIS.

Re: ASP.net and IIS
IIS6.0 is installed by default with support for executing aspx files from a intranet or internet.
The ASP.NET Framework is a client framework for people wanting to run / see applications using the ASP.NET language. In this case you can ignore the framework its not required as a core system is included with IIS6.0 All you need to do is install IIS6.0 and enable the application "ASP.NET" from within the IIS mmc.
