How do I track down a groups rights.
Here's my problem. I'm Sr. Support Analyst of a small 200 person company. We have no Network Administrator since they fired him fairly recently. I've taken one class on Server 2003 Administration, but by no means am I an administrator yet. I've been getting a lot of the work that the Network Administrator used to do. Here's another task I've been asked to do that has me stumped. Maybe I'm just not searching for the correct thing or maybe it can't really be done. That's where I hope you guys can help.
A member of the Senior Management sent the Director of IS a request and he passed it onto me. Basically, he's a member of about 9 groups in Active Directory and he'd like to know how to figure out what servers, folders and data these groups have access to on our network. Thanks for any and all help! |

Re: How do I track down a groups rights.
This may be of some use to you. You can use this to see what Group Policies are applied to him. You may be able to get lucky and find a login script he's set up to use that maps drives according to the group he's a member of.

Re: How do I track down a groups rights.
Thanks for the responses. I actually came across that ShareEnum, but it didn't help since none of the groups were added to any of the shares. I also found this other software called Hyena from http://www.systemtools.com/, but I haven't got it to work properly yet. Apparently this software can pull the NTFS permissions among many other things.

Re: How do I track down a groups rights.
If you end up needing to manually go through the folder structure to look at NTFS permissions this may speed things up a bit.
