404 error when attempting to access FE OWA
Hi
I have been attempting to set up a FE-BE topology for exchange in our organization. Both machines are running Server 2003 SE R2 and Exchange SE SP2. The servers are both running IIS v6. For testing purposes I have both machines in the LAN. I plan to incorporate SSL form based authentication on the FE and IPSec to the back end later on. At the moment i am only concerned with being able to log into the FE through OWA. I can access the BE through http://<servername>/exchange, but when I attempt to log into the FE I receive a 404 error. I have attempted subsituting the FQDN and the IP address for the <servername> on the browser. I have also used https with all of the previous variants. Settings on the FE IIS are as follows: Exchange Virtual directory is located 'on this computer' and is \.\BackOfficeStorage\domainname.com\MBX under authentication and access control: enable anonymous access, intergrated windows authentication and Basic authentication are selected. Under Website: description: Default website TCP port 80 SSL port 443. In Exchange System Manager access-authentication settings for Exchange are:anonymous access and basic authentication with the default domain set as \. I hope that is enough information to provide insight into the current configuration. Any assistance would be most welcome Cheers! |

Re: 404 error when attempting to access FE OWA
Oh one more thingy- when comparing default website properties the BE has a OwaLogon ISAPI filter that is missing from the FE. I'm not sure if this is important or not but I orginally had SSL configured on this server.
