RIS Imaging Issues
I am trying to create a RIS image to roll out over 400 identical PC's at a college. I have created a master system, ran sysprep, then riprep. Near the end of the image creation i get four errors STARTROM.COM, NTDETECT.COM, NTDLR, RISTNDRD all saying the network location cannot be reached. I have looked on the microsofts site and followed the work around but this has had no affect.
I have managed to get the image up as an option using pxe boot by copying the template folder and editing the riprep.sif file, however when i goto run the image on a client it installs it but then comes up with \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM. is missing or corrupt. Has anyone got any ideas? |

Re: RIS Imaging Issues
From what it looks like the NTLDR is not copying and is most probably your culprit. I have seen some NIC drivers become an issue and you have to edit the .inf file of the drive. Specifically Broadcom NICs.
Also, I have noticed that some Windows updates will conflict with a RIS image. Namely from what I have noticed IE7 and dotnet. |
