Windows 2000 removing antivirus program that only downloaded half way

Hello,

I bought this computer it is a Dell c600 P3 254 10gb. this was only going to be used to surf the internet. That was not a problem. I tried to down load norton antivirus and it quit downloading half way through and would not restart. So I have tried to remove it from the computer along with AVG that was already on there and I can't get them to remove. When the uninstall link is activated it shows a page like it is checking the files to uninstall, but then it quits and nothing has been removed. PLEASE help me.

We don't use - and I don't know enough about Norton products, but as a thought, you could try searching the registry for norton or NAV entries and removing them.

Start - Run - regedit

but back up the registry first
