Exchange 2007 NICs

I have searched around but not coming up with much good information. How many NICs should I be using with Exchange 2007? Thanks!

Re: Exchange 2007 NICs

minimum 1 <sorry couldn't resist>

but 2 of them teamed is better --- as its a bandwidth muncher especially if you have a lot of mailboxes.

If it's clustered, definately 2 more normal is 3 (extra one for the heartbeat)

it also depends if you are using it in live or cached mode, is the global address book updated hourly, daily or in real time etc etc etc

see here - good reading:

Re: Exchange 2007 NICs

Thank you very much for your reply. The server has 4 NICs. Would you recommend using all 4?

Re: Exchange 2007 NICs

it depends on how many users / mailboxes you have.

500 mailboxes + and I would team them.........

Personally though I would use 2 of them teamed regardless (for failover protection at least) and possibly another to connect to a workstation (or anywhere else you needed).

but thats purely personal and would be depending on how big the domain was/ users/ projected (anticipated) traffic flow etc etc
