Singing Server

One of our DC's is making a chirp from the motherboard about every 2 mins. Nothing in the logs that jumps out at me, anyone know what this might be?

Chirp from the motherboard usually indicates a hardware issue. Are you running any kind of hardware RAID?

agreed. Anytime I've dealt with that, it's been a failing Raid disk issue.

Yes there is a RAID setup. How can I check for issues?

Usually you can go into the controller configuration at startup. Or some controllers will have a RAID configuration app that runs in windows.

Dells use a program called Array Manager to administer the RAID arrays tied into their PERC controllers.

The tech in the server farm said it is running a RAID 1 by Windows OS.

When I open up disk management everything appears normal, after a restart the churping stopped. Still monitoring...

you don't normally configure raids (unless it's a software raid) with disk management. When you boot the server, look for the instrauctions on the screen for which key combination to press to get into the Raid setup/management. usually it's like CTRL + A, or something.

I can see the mirrored array activated through disk management (windows). The mirror is not using the BIOS
