Domain Joining Trivia

My problem is as related in the two previous postings on the net...but solution is not be found: (Links to those postings appear at the end of this message)

My network is like this:

Netware servers for file-print and DNS/DHCP.

Windows 2k server as Workstation Group Policy and central mandatory profile pusher.

Windows 2K server has two network cards. NIC1 serving Room 1 (On private subnet 192.*.*.*) and NIC2 for Room 2 (Private subnet 10.*.*.*)

The difference in two rooms is, one is server by win2K solely with no connection to netware and Room two is hybrid.

Room 1: Windows XP Pro Clients. Everything works as desired. Via NIC1, I am also pushing DHCP/DNS residing on this Win2K Server.

Room 2: Windows 2000 Pro with Novell Netware Client installed (pls don't jump to think that it's Netware related issue). This is on the same subnet as NIC2 but being served by different DNS/DHCP Servers (Netware), I am able to join the windows domain 'ABC' without any problems and push GPO to the workstations. No resource record for Win2K Server exists. I can ping the NetBIOS server name though. Cannot ping by the Domain name.

My problem:

When I bring in new workstations which have Windows XP Pro SP2, 'Firewall turned off', I change to Domain from workstation, enter the domain name, the workstation pops up window to enter administrator account for joining the domain, waits for some time and returns a message:

"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain:ABC The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. "

It's definitely an XP related issue as in the same environment, Windows 2K pro works fine. As a test, I created a Windows 2003 server (eval license) and that works fine too. Netware Client is still insalled in these WinXP Pro workstations.

What could be the problem??
