Disabling DHCP services on one of the NICs
I have a Windows 2000 server running RRAS and DHCP server servcies and it has two NICs plugged into two different networks. How can I stop DHCP serving on one of these NICs as it has it's own DHCP server. I only want DHCP available on one of the networks and let users authenticate to AD from both. Any advise would be appreciated.

Well, that would be controlled by the scope your setting up no? Like if you have two cards, one say: 192.168.1.10 and the other 10.0.0.10. DHCP has a scope on 192.168.1.11-254, that won't interfear witht he other NIC...
Is this what you're asking? |

Yes..infused. I wonder why I didn't think about that. Also, there is another setting that I found related to this issue. If I follow these steps on my WIn2K Server:
1. In the DHCP snap-in right click the server and choose properties. 2. Click on the advanced tab 3. Click on bindings 4. Uncheck all interfaces that you do not want the DHCP server to operate on. So, why should this alternative exist if logically what you wrote in your reply, makes as much sense. The DHCP server should not even serve to the NIC, which doesn't belong to the subnet IP range of the assigned pool. I wonder!! |
