Join domain problem . . .
Attempting to add new XP ws to existing 2003 domain. All nodes use static ip's. Admin initiates join, bombs when asked for name & password of admin auth to add account. Error msg "logon failure, the target account name is incorrect." Admin has full privleges, able to log on from any other station. nltest responds with AD server ready to authenticate user.. IP address and name server pings normal ... all firewalls disabled, netbios over tcp/ip enabled.. ???? desperately looking for ideas here...Thanks!

Thanks
My thanks to all those who shared my frustration. The site in question is an extremely remote outpost in Alaska - one of those places where the service call starts with a $$$$ plane ticket. The network is now showing additional signs of possible AD corruption, so will be going on-site to do a full diagnostic and probable dump/reload. Will also be making another stab at getting some type of remote admin to work over very high latency satellite links.
Best wishes. |
