need help with windows 2000

i am working on a windows 2000 professional pc the registry is messed up i think it will not let me download anything. can i possibly install windows xp home edtion on it? let me no if u need any kind of info on it thanks for help.

it also tells me when i try to download something that i half to be logged on as an admistrator but i am logged on as that i have no clue some one help plezz. thank you

i want to take windows 2000 completely off and reinstall xp how can i do this please help . thank you
