Recovery Console Operation

I am having a problem using RECOVERY CONSOLE in WinXP. The original problem was that my system would not boot and kept coming up disk error.
So I am trying to use system recovery to repair my boot sector, I am just unfamiliar with the process. Also from what I have done so far was to use it to repair the mbr and I ran bootcfg /rebuild now it is asking for the load identifier what is that and how do I find it in order to enter it?

Thanx for any help,

hwilcher

if you type help in the recovery console and press enter it will list the commands available
the one you want is
fixboot
run
chkdsk /r

You should be able to type a /? after the command to get help and examples on any of the commands.
