I have two thumb-drives that I use and switch them off between work and home. I've been working on a document for quite a while now (Microsoft Word, Office 2003) and am able to open the file at work without any problems. The OS's at work include both Win2000 and XP. When I get home, I plug the thumb-drives into my computer (Win2000 Professional, SP4) and am told the file is corrupt. Just to test, I also tried to access the file from another computer at home also using Win2k Professional and that computer didn't even show the drive in 'Explorer'. It did pick it up as a USB device and install the drivers for it when I plugged it in. Both 'work' and 'home' use Office 2003, and I'm getting the same error messages for either thumb-drive.
Norton Corporate Anti-virus is on both home machines as well as regularly running Ad-Aware on each box. I'm at a loss at this point. Any help greatly appreciated. Note: I can bring up Microsoft Word on each computer and use it without any problems. |

Re: Norton Antivirus
No I have not tried that. Both my work laptop (winXP) and my home computers have Norton Corporate Antivirus running on them, didn't really think that would be an issue. I will try it tonight, thanks.

Also...have you tried saving the data to floppy/CD disc then seeing if it remains corrupt?
Maybe even changing the permissions on the document as well??? |
