Clearing Windows Search

Hello all and i am totally clueless to this. Ive googled my search and havent found much and stumbled onto this website. My (parents) desktop computer that i just gave to them is running windows 2000. Upon giving them it i deleted everything off of it. I ran some searches using the "Start"/"Search" command for files and folders. Well in all honesty i dont want them to see what i was searching for. How do i delete the list that is in there? An example could be that when you type in "B" to the search bar "boobs" will pop up if i searched for it. (Just an example)

Thanks in advance

Try using something like CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:

*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
[X]Scan local drives for temporary files (Please uncheck this option)
Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

No harm in searching for boobs! ;-)

Not sure if this is relevent for Windows 2000 but open the registry and locate the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru

Delete the entries you do not want to keep.

If you can't find the key, it simply means it's not a valid W2K action...if that's the case, follow Geekgirl's advice and download a freeware utility that will do the job for you.

Hope that helps :-)
