computer problem

one of my clients said that there computer sparked in the back of the computer and their lights went off,and when the turned the lights back on they tried to turn on the computer but it didnt work what do you supposed happened to it? He tried unplugging and everything. He has a 2000 hewlett packard. Please help.

If he got no power at all to the system when he presses the power button I would say the power supply needs replaced

That depends on what the case requires as a replacement. Most systems you can purchase any ATX power supply. We would have to decide by the computer make and model.

They are around $30 -$40 for a generic power supply. If it has to be a HP power supply it may be more.
