HELP PLEASE can't get computer to start - error message inside.
My computer is coming up with the following error message on start up: Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\systemd. I have now managed to get the computer to the ms dos mode in a: by having a friend make a formatted start up floppy disk but we can't get it to recognize the cd drive to reload the running programs - have tried a lot of different commands without any success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am typing this at a friends computer (only a few doors up so can go back and forward) or she will get the messages. Thanks in advance. Regards Janis.

What operating system did you format the floppy with. If you used win98 for example, it wont work because it is a fat32 system where as Windows 2000 is a ntfs system.
Try going to http://www.bootdisk.com/ and follow the link to create a floppy for your version of windows. Just found this link from Microsoft. Try this and post back with results http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;826721 Last edited by Mustang00; 03-20-2006 at 01:36 PM. Reason: found another link |
