Win2000 Pro Internet connection issues
My Son's PC
AMD Barton 2.6Ghz ASUS mother board Win 2000 Pro operating system Cable Internet Service Norton AV, Ad Aware, SpyBot S&D and HiJack This! all show the system as clean. All programs open and function at the correct speed except for certain functions and conditions that access the Internet. Using the Regular Log in Identity and the standard installed Internet Explorer Icon defaulted to Google or Windows Media Player, both applications are very slow to open. If I use a short cut icon to Google as saved in IE Favorites from the Desktop or the Quick Launch bar, it opens at the correct speed! If I go into Administrator both IE and Windows Media player open at the correct speed using the same icons that are very slow in the normal log in. I created a new log in identity but got exactly the same results as the normal log in identity. Any ideas to get me on the right track would be appreciated. Thanks |

Let's do another check for malware .....
Please download HijackThis http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it. 1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. |
