mine did this, i could only switch it off to turn it off and thats v. dangerous. i could shutdown normally until svchost.exe terminated (which has now stopped thanks to the gr8 ppl at HJT) and i was getting very annoyed at this cause nearly every 4 boot ups (as every boot svchost terminated) i had to repair windows. id say scan, scan, scan some more, publish a HJT log (i wont be doing it im afraid, im still a trainee) and then follow the steps then see if it will shut down probably, check firstly that during the time your logged in any critical progs dont terminate
