How to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 (win2k)?
How to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2
under Windows 2000? Is there a way of doing that without the win2000 CD? PS: I've searched the web, but I get only instructions for IE on win9X. |

You cannot uninstall "Internet Explorer" in any of its versions from Windows 2000 Pro, because IE is a superset of "Windows Explorer", an intrinsic part of the operating system.
Page 761 of "Using Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional", by Robert Cowan and Brian Knittel, states this: "When Internet Explorer has switched to an ordinary Windows Explorer view, the File, Open command is no longer available"; this statement links the relationship between these two programs. |

If you just want to remove IE from the desktop and Start menu then use...
Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components | and remove checkmark from Internet Explorer, click next, finish.
