How to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 (win2k)?

How to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2
under Windows 2000? Is there a way of doing that without the win2000 CD?

PS: I've searched the web, but I get only instructions for IE on win9X.

Why do you wish to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5?

If your trying to upgrade your Internet Explorer, use Windows Update.

You cannot uninstall "Internet Explorer" in any of its versions from Windows 2000 Pro, because IE is a superset of "Windows Explorer", an intrinsic part of the operating system.

Page 761 of "Using Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional", by Robert Cowan and Brian Knittel, states this:
"When Internet Explorer has switched to an ordinary Windows Explorer view, the File, Open command is no longer available"; this statement links the relationship between these two programs.

If you just want to remove IE from the desktop and Start menu then use...

Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components | and remove checkmark from Internet Explorer, click next, finish.
