Security on Local Win 2000 Computer

We're relatively new to active directory so were surprised that a user - who was never set up on this win2000 computer but still a user in AD - could get into the files of this win2000 computer merely by logging into AD. Anyway that we can force the login process to always authenticate to the local users or something at the computer object level in AD? AD is running under win2000 Server. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I need new glasses as I have overlooked the "Log On To" tab, under active users and computers, several times. This should work for us.
