Well, if you have the cd, you should be able to pop it in the drive, and turn on your computer. Go into the BIOS when the laptop first boots, it will usually say press the Delete key, or press F1, something like that. Once in there you should be able to find a section in there that has your boot devices, and now its probably set to the floppy drive, or just the hard drive. Change it to the cd drive, save settings and reboot with that cd in and see what happens. Tell me what happened or if you could get it to work or not. :)
PS- if you want to get the files off of the machine first before installing over everything you can actually buy a converter which will convert the laptops 2.5" to a standard 3.5" drive, so if you had another desktop pc, you could add this drive in as a 2nd drive and logon to your operating system on the first drive. And possible view and extract the files you wanted before you format. Also if you dont have the 2000cd, if you do the convert thing, check in your cd drive and see if you have a 'i386' folder, if so you might be in luck. Your installation files are in it, and you wouldnt need the cd. Desi Last edited by cashman2000 : 07-07-2005 at 10:32 AM. |
