I cannot double-click or right-click items in my computer/control panel

When I double-click an item in my computer, the item highlights but does not open. Right-clicking the item does the same thing (no menu appears.) However I can highlight an item, then click File at the top and choose to open that way. This is the same for items in my control panel too. I have already removed spyware/virus'. Does anyone know how I can get my right-click menu back and open items with double-click? Thanks!

I just noticed that everything works fine in safe mode... 2000 does not have msconfig so how do I find the problem and remove or fix it?

hi there

u can try task manager and remove unwanted programs which are running behind the scene

or u can browse to regedit=hkey local machine/software/microsoft/windows/current verson/run

here delete the unwanted programs which start up as soon as ur machine boots up,remember to take the backup of registry

I've found that this problem is only with "web content enabled" folders. So when I turn off web content, i'm able to double and right-click. Who needs web content folders anyways!?! Thanks for the help guys
