Question Modems

I am unable to access the modem properties from within Control Panel on a NT box. When I click on the icon nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Cheers

What exactly are you doing. Is this on a network or stand alone? Are you logged in as the admin?

Try running the following in a command window

C:\> control modem.cpl

If the above did not work check and see if the "PnP ISA Enabler" service is running. I think it is listed as Plug and Play in the services list.

If it is stopped or disabled try starting it and running the command above again.

Failing that you have some files missing. Reapply the Service Pack. !!!Make a backup First!!!

Remember it is Microsoft you are dealing with!!

thanks for the note re: 'Microsoft', you're too right! This is a stand alone laptop which has been service packed and the service is running - I'm going for a re-build I think.

Cheers

....NT4.0 logged in with admin rights - trying to double click on modems through control panel and via .cpl - nothing happens. Tried test via hyperterminal but there are no modems listed
