Windows 2000 Installation Freeze

I am trying to install Windows 2000 on my computer but it always freezes up for like ten minutes and then restarts the machine after I name the computer and enter an administrator password. It has done this three times in a row and always at the same step of the installation. This is driving me crazy, please help!!

Well, a few things to try:

Download Memtest86, unzip and make the floppy, boot to it, and let it run for an few hours.
Try a different 2k CD
Download the hard drive diagnostics from the manufacturer's website and do a full check of your hard drive.
